An airport website meets people at very different moments: planning a trip, checking a flight, finding parking, or picking someone up. Albany International Airport connects an ambitious visual introduction with prominent routes into those practical tasks, giving the experience both a sense of place and a clear purpose.

Public-site observations
What makes it work.
Observations about the captured public experience. Current features may include later work by other teams; these observations do not establish the founder’s ownership of each design choice.
01✦
The main tasks lead the navigation
Flights, parking, the airport guide, and maps form a compact primary navigation, with explanatory subtitles beneath the labels. That structure speaks to what a traveler is trying to do. Airport information and organizational links sit in a separate utility area, allowing practical trip planning to remain prominent in the first view.
02✦
A visual direction built around movement
The ALB identity, large directional shape, dark blue palette, and travel photography create a cohesive introduction. The composition carries the idea of movement while keeping the principal navigation distinct against a white background. It gives the airport an energetic personality and preserves an obvious place to look for essential information.
03✦
Shortcuts connect the opening to real needs
Parking, ground transportation, rentals, and expansion information appear as direct entry points alongside a flight-search area with arrival and departure choices. These routes recognize different reasons for visiting. A visitor can start with the task at hand rather than having to interpret a broad promotional message before finding a useful link.
04✦
The airport is connected to its region
Destination sections introduce nearby places through imagery, short descriptions, and further-information links. Practical notices and airport-service information serve a different purpose elsewhere on the page. Bringing these layers together lets the website support the immediate journey while also presenting the airport as a gateway into the surrounding region.
Bring the thinking to your business
A useful lesson. A stronger next move.
A service-heavy website can have a strong identity and still be practical. Make the most common tasks visible first, then use the wider story to give people a sense of place.
